Wall Work

Over dinner tonight Al mentioned I hadn't posted anything in a while, so here's an update so he can test the RSS feature of his MythTV software. Last week I had the aged retaining wall replaced with a nice new block one. I knew the old wall, originally made of 6"x8" railroad ties, needed to be replaced, but had been putting it off for a while. After removing the English Ivy (including a 'grandmother root' 1.5" thick) from the wall, the extent of the decay was revealed.

The contractor told me that only 1" of the original eight inches of tie thickness remained, the rest was long rotted away and waiting to fall over. Replacement was long overdue. Working during the hottest days of the year so far, he installed a replacement wall in four days.

Looks pretty good, don'cha think?
