Flash Flood Heartache

As the outer reaches of Huricane Dolly rolled throught the St. Louis area last week, the heavy rains yet again caused a flash flood accross Kircher Park. Instead of a small washout, the track damage was more severe. The St. Louis Live Steamers were planning on having a members run day next Saturday 9-Aug, but that has been postponed.

A small band of workers braved the heat advisory working until 2 pm re-compacting the roadbed then returning the tracks to their proper places. More work remains, but our next public run day on 6-Sept is still on.

It is a bit discouraging to see our hard work repeatedly wiped out.

  • A real mess this time. Sorry to you all. You all work so hard to improve the area. I guess the mobile park is gone for a reason. Wish we could be there to help. The St. Louis Live Steamers are making a difference in the park, just the same.

    Bless you,
    Mom and Dad
