While Bill was making a new Riveting buck, I took some mild steel mending wire and did my best to spot-rivet it to the pan for the refractory cement would have something to hang onto. My preference was to use some hardware mending mesh, the steel woven wire in 1/4" by 1/4" squares, but the week got busy and I did not get to the hardware store to buy some. This was the best idea I could come up with.
