19-Jan-09 Bill and I have been puzzling how to put that 6" radius bend in the Tumbling Shaft while maintaining concentricy of both ends. We know that not having the two ends in line with each other can cause binding in the pillow block and worse, timing errors between the left and right sides like the full-size locomotive we worked on, the Frisco 1522.
We decide to make a bending fixture using the machinist vise since I do not have a hydraulic press. Step one is make a new fixed jaw.
